Now this is the one thing that should make you consider your sexual activity. This scare is more serious than the first because the chances of it being a false alarm is quite rare, and there is really no chance for you to play the waiting game like you did in the pregnancy scare.
so first off, allow me to introduce the cardinal signs of STD..
1) you have a burning sensation when you urinate (pee).
2) you have an unusual discharge.
3) you have any types of unusual growths or lesions, whether they hurt or not.
4) you have an unusual odor or itching in the genital area.
5) you have had sex with a person known to have (or suspected or having) an STD, even if you do not have any symptoms yourself.
6) you have put yourself at risk for HIV or any other STD.
7) you have any symptoms that are not going away, or are very severe.
Now that we are acquainted with these signs, we may now proceed to the features of an STD scare:
- The onset of one or more of the above signs- the most noticeable is the itching or the burning, depending on the kind of infection. for itching, you may think its probably a reaction to something..maybe the change of soap or the pant liners, or it could be the heat caused by tight boxers..for the burning sensation; you may probably think you scratched yourself too hard or something..so you think..all these will go soon after i rub on some Funbact-A, or down some Alomo bitters! please note that if its just a reaction issue, then you only get to experience this stage of the scare. should i say Congrats?!
- Still there- C'mon now! what's going on? still feeling the signs and they are getting worse. hmmm.. don't think i wanna see the family doctor, he'l probably think i'm dirty or something.. whatever it is, it's still running its course..it'll subside soon..
- Questions- Where did this come from now? i haven't slept with any one apart from him/her.. where the hell did he/she get it from? should i tell him/her about it and ask him what's been going on with him down there? and many more...( questions to be answered in the next article).
- Google- OK search for 'itching after sex'..let me try 'Sexually Transmitted Diseases'..just curious, i'l check 'HIV-AIDS'..naaa!! that's going too far..right?..now trust me on this one, 1 person can possess a thousand diseases on search engine! LOLL!
- Self medication- OK Google recommended some antibiotics to use and some home remedies..drink plenty water, use ointments, take drugs..all done! good, this should do.
- Acceptance- OMGG!! it really hurts! its just getting worse! this time, you find yourself in the doctor's office ( don't care about any embarrassment its your future on the line!). the doctor tests you and gives you medications, which you use with all power and might..the doctor says there is a chance of recurrence, so you propose in your heart..'its all about 100% safety this time around' ( are you really sure about that?).
still to come...true STD story alert, self medication, STD answers to questions, explanation to the itch reaction, and more..
